Legacies of Redlining Summit: Water, Justice, and Community

Wednesday, October 22, 2025 (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

The Johnson County Museum invites you to the inaugural Legacies of Redlining Summit, a half-day event exploring how historical housing discrimination continues to shape our environment and communities today. This year’s theme, "Water, Justice, and Community," looks at the unequal impacts of redlining on our region’s water systems. Formerly redlined neighborhoods often struggle with flooding and aging infrastructure, while wealthier areas benefit from stronger planning and green buffers. From front yards to regional watersheds, we’ll explore how these inequities persist — and what we can do to change them. What to Expect: - Thought-provoking keynote on environmental justice - Panel discussion with local and regional experts - Hands-on Action Lab to imagine change - Coffee and light refreshments Inspiration to spark change in your home, neighborhood, and city.
